Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium)
What Is It
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a flowering perennial that has accompanied people for centuries. Long valued in traditional herbal preparations, its flowering tops have been slowly infused into oils intended to comfort and care for the skin.
We grow our own yarrow.
Each season, the plants emerge from the garden, attracting pollinators before filling the beds with clusters of delicate white flowers. When the time is right, we harvest the flowering tops and slowly infuse them into oil for approximately six weeks.
During that time, the oil gradually takes on the plant's color, aroma, and botanical character - not through industrial extraction, but through patience.
The result is an ingredient that remains closely connected to the place it was grown and the hands that made it.
The Benefits
Traditional Botanical Support
Yarrow has been infused into oils for generations and has long been valued in herbal traditions for comforting dry, weathered, and stressed skin.
Naturally Rich
Yarrow contributes naturally occurring flavonoids, antioxidants, and aromatic compounds that lend depth and botanical complexity to the finished infusion.
Gentle Conditioning
Infused yarrow works quietly. Rather than dominating a formulation, it complements the carrier oil, enriching the composition while maintaining a balanced, skin-friendly feel.
Slow Infusion
We allow approximately six weeks for each infusion to develop naturally. No shortcuts. No industrial extraction. Just time, patience, and the gradual transfer of the plant's character into the oil.
Why We Love It
There are easier ways to formulate.
We could purchase a finished extract and move on.
Instead, we grow the plant ourselves.
There is something deeply satisfying about walking into the garden to harvest an ingredient you've watched grow for months. It stops being a line on a specification sheet and becomes part of the rhythm of the seasons.
We enjoy that process.
The flowers open.
The bees arrive.
Summer reaches its peak.
Then the harvest begins.
Watching the oil slowly deepen as the infusion develops is a quiet reminder that some of the best materials cannot be hurried.
We aren't trying to isolate one remarkable compound.
We're trying to preserve something of the whole plant.
That effort—that connection—matters.
The infusion eventually finds its way into our formulations, carrying with it not only the botanical character of yarrow, but also the experience of growing, harvesting, and making it ourselves.
For us, the closer we are to our materials, the more meaningful they become.
