Murumuru Butter

What Is It

Murumuru butter is a luxurious, pale yellow fat pressed from the seeds of the murumuru palm (Astrocaryum murumuru), a spiky Amazonian tree native to Brazil and other parts of the Amazon basin. The seeds fall naturally to the forest floor, where they are harvested and cold-pressed to extract the rich, fatty butter.  Murumuru’s texture is solid and creamy at room temperature but melts quickly on contact with the skin.

Though less known than shea or cocoa butter, murumuru is a standout in the world of natural emollients - prized for its lightness, fast absorption, and protective qualities.  Its high lauric acid content gives it both antimicrobial properties and deep compatibility with human skin and hair.
