Crystalline, botanical, and made for softer lips

French Kiss is a completely plant-based lip scrub built from hand-ground French heritage sugar cubes, rich botanical oils, cupuaçu butter, jojoba beads, and a trace of papaya enzyme for gentle exfoliation and renewal.

It begins with crystalline texture — polishing away roughness with fine sparkling grit — before melting gradually into a cushion of botanical oils that soften, condition, and restore the lips.

The result is smooth, supple, well-tended skin with a finish that feels refined, nourished, and indulgent.

Using French Kiss

Scoop a pea-sized amount onto a fingertip and press it gently across the lips. At first, the texture may feel slightly crystalline and crumbly — a deliberate part of the composition. As you begin to work it in with slow, circular motions, the sugar and jojoba beads polish the lips while the botanical oils and butters gradually melt into the skin.

Unlike harsher scrubs designed to strip or over-exfoliate, French Kiss was composed to soften while it smooths — leaving behind a cushion of botanical richness rather than an empty, overworked feeling.

Use whenever the lips feel rough, dry, weathered, or in need of renewal. Wipe away any remaining sugar if desired, or allow the oils and butters to remain as a conditioning finish.

The Composition

French Kiss was built around texture — specifically the transformation from crystalline polish into soft botanical restoration.

At the center of the composition is hand-ground French heritage sugar, chosen not only for its exfoliating qualities but for the way it behaves physically within the scrub itself: sparkling, irregular, tactile, and slow to dissolve. Jojoba Oil beads deepen the polishing phase, helping smooth roughness while remaining gentler and more rounded than harsher exfoliants.

Cupuaçu butter and castor oil create the rich melt that follows, turning the scrub gradually from crystalline grit into a dense botanical cushion that softens and conditions the lips as the exfoliation phase gives way to restoration.

Blueberry seed oil brings antioxidant richness and a subtle fruit-like depth to the composition, while candelilla wax provides light structure and helps the oils remain present on the lips long enough to soften and replenish rather than disappearing immediately on contact.

A trace of papaya papain enzyme rounds out the formula — adding a quieter, enzymatic form of renewal beneath the physical texture of the scrub itself.

The result is a fully botanical lip scrub composed not simply to exfoliate, but to leave the lips softer, calmer, and more comfortably inhabited afterward.

Questions Worth Asking

Why does French Kiss feel slightly crumbly at first?

Intentionally so. French Kiss was designed around the physical texture of hand-ground sugar crystals suspended within rich botanical butters and oils. The scrub begins in a more crystalline state before gradually softening and melting with warmth and movement.

What makes French Kiss different from a typical lip scrub?

Many lip scrubs rely on aggressive exfoliation alone, leaving the lips feeling stripped or overworked afterward. French Kiss was composed differently — pairing physical exfoliation with dense botanical conditioning so the lips feel softened and replenished rather than simply polished raw.

Does French Kiss fully dissolve on the lips?

Partially. As the scrub is worked across the lips, the sugar gradually breaks down while the oils and butters melt into a conditioning finish. Some people prefer to wipe away the remaining crystals afterward, while others allow the composition to continue softening into the lips for a few additional moments.

Why use both sugar and jojoba beads?

The sugar provides the primary crystalline polish and tactile exfoliation, while jojoba beads help refine the texture and create a smoother, more rounded feel during application. Together, they create a scrub that feels deliberate and substantial without becoming overly abrasive.

Why include papaya enzyme in the composition?

Papaya papain enzyme contributes a quieter, enzymatic layer of renewal beneath the physical exfoliation of the scrub itself. It helps support a softer, smoother finish without increasing the harshness of the composition.

What is the history of tongue kissing?

Tongue kissing is far older than the phrase “French kiss,” and references to it appear in some of the oldest surviving writings on intimacy and human connection. Ancient Sanskrit texts from India described forms of open-mouth kissing more than 2,000 years ago, treating kissing not merely as affection, but as a form of rhythm, attention, breath, and mutual responsiveness between bodies.

The ancient Romans also wrote extensively about kissing, even developing different words for different kinds of kisses — from respectful greetings to deeply erotic forms of intimacy. Across cultures and centuries, kissing has occupied a strange and fascinating space between communication, appetite, trust, curiosity, sensuality, and emotional closeness.

Modern researchers believe kissing may also function partly as a subconscious way humans gather information about one another through scent, chemistry, breath, and physical responsiveness. A kiss can comfort, test, reassure, provoke, deepen attachment, or awaken desire — sometimes all at once.

The phrase “French kiss” itself emerged much later in the English-speaking world, where “French” became associated with sensuality and romantic openness. But the act itself belongs to a far older human story: one tied to the sharing of breath, taste, warmth, rhythm, and the slow unfolding of closeness between two bodies learning one another through contact.
