This One Thing | When the Skin Needs Support

Regular price $28.00

• One (1) recyclable aluminum screw-top tin | approx. 1 oz

A botanical, oil-forward barrier balm made for skin that is dry, overworked, or compromised.

Developed out of personal necessity, this composition was built slowly - using materials chosen for how they behave on skin that is sensitive, stressed, and no longer responding to lighter care.

Using This One Thing

Apply a small amount to clean, dry hands and work it in slowly.

This is not a quick-absorbing product.

Used in smaller amounts, it can be applied throughout the day to ease dryness and tightness - especially after washing or when the skin begins to feel stressed.

In more generous applications, it’s best used with intention - after bathing, before bed, or under gloves - when the skin has the space to receive it.

In practice, it tends to work best just after bathing, when the skin is more receptive.

The Composition

Built entirely from botanical materials - cupuaçu, kokum, and ucuuba butters, candelilla wax, and a focused blend of oils - the composition is designed for how it behaves on skin under stress.

At its center is cupuaçu butter, providing deep, flexible hydration while remaining breathable. It is supported by kokum and ucuuba, which give the balm its structure and staying power - helping it remain in place.

Candelilla wax provides a light, plant-based framework, allowing the balm to hold without sealing the skin off.

A concentrated blend of oils refines the composition further. Tamanu is included for how it supports skin that has been pushed beyond its usual limits—helping it settle, soften, and become more even over time. Black cumin seed oil brings a steadying, calming quality, especially in areas that are easily irritated or slow to recover. Meadowfoam helps anchor the blend, allowing it to remain stable and present rather than disappearing too quickly.

Together, these materials form a dense, grounded composition - one that spreads slowly, holds where it’s needed, and supports the skin.

Questions Worth Asking

When should I use this instead of a regular hand cream?

When lighter products stop working - or when they no longer feel quite right.

If your skin feels dry, tight, cracked, or no longer responsive to quick-absorbing creams, a slower, more grounded composition like this tends to be more effective.

How do I know if my skin needs this kind of support?

Usually, it’s when the skin stops responding to lighter care.

If you find yourself reapplying creams without much change - if the skin stays dry, tight, or begins to feel rough, cracked, or easily irritated - those are signs it may need something more substantial.

This kind of composition is best suited to those moments. It moves more slowly, stays present longer, and gives the skin time to settle.

Will it feel too heavy or greasy?

It’s a dense, oil-forward balm, and it’s meant to be.

Used in small amounts, it settles in and remains present without feeling overly slick. In larger amounts, it will stay on the surface longer - especially when the skin needs time to receive it.

How is this different from a typical “barrier cream”?

Most barrier creams are water-based and designed to absorb quickly, often relying on synthetic emulsifiers and stabilizers.

This is a water-free composition built entirely from biocompatible botanical materials. It doesn’t disappear on contact - it spreads slowly, holds where it’s needed, and moves with the skin as it softens.

What makes ucuuba and tamanu important here?

Ucuuba Butter gives the balm its grounded structure while also contributing a deeper, more settled conditioning effect - especially useful where the skin has been pushed beyond its usual limits.

Tamanu Oil is included for how it supports skin that has been stressed or disrupted - helping it calm, soften, and become more even over time.

Can I use this on areas other than my hands?

Yes.

It works well anywhere the skin is dry, stressed, or under repeated friction -elbows, heels, fingertips, or small areas that need more support than a standard moisturizer provides.

When is the best time to use it?

After washing, after bathing, or before bed tend to be the most effective times - when the skin is more receptive and has the space to receive a richer product.

Will this fix cracked or damaged skin?

It’s not a quick fix.

But used consistently, it creates the conditions the skin needs to become more comfortable and stable over time.
