Lanolin
What Is It
Lanolin — sometimes called wool wax — is a natural waxy substance derived from sheep’s wool and carefully refined for cosmetic use.
Its structure is remarkably similar to the lipids found in human skin. That similarity is what gives lanolin its reputation: it does not simply sit on the surface — it integrates.
Dense, supple, and deeply emollient, lanolin has been used for generations in situations where ordinary moisturizers fall short.
It is not light. It is not fleeting.
It is protective by nature.
The Benefits
Water Retention
Lanolin has an exceptional ability to bind and hold moisture, helping skin remain hydrated longer — particularly in areas prone to dryness and cracking.
Flexible Occlusion
It forms a substantial yet pliable barrier that reduces moisture loss without becoming rigid or brittle. Skin remains protected but able to move naturally.
Adhesion & Staying Power
Lanolin clings. On lips or skin, it remains in place, continuing to condition rather than disappearing after a few minutes.
Intensive Conditioning
Where lighter oils soften, lanolin fortifies. It is especially valued in formulas designed for deeply dry or weather-exposed skin.
Why We Love It
There are many plant-based emollients that feel elegant and light.
Lanolin is different.
It offers a density and resilience that few ingredients can replicate. When paired with our own virgin beeswax, it creates a structure that both shields and replenishes — particularly in formulas designed for serious protection.
We do not use lanolin everywhere.
We use it where it matters.
When flexibility, adhesion, and deep moisture retention are required, nothing else performs the same way.
Cult-Made. Uncompromising.
In MINTNIGHT, lanolin provides lasting moisture and protection, forming a breathable barrier that softens and restores lips. Its natural affinity with the skin helps lock in hydration, giving the balm its smooth, comforting depth.
